A Pinned Post!

I’m a mid-20s trans Canadian trying to suss out some gender stuff and other things along the way.

I’m bi, ace, and taken and ambivalent to pronouns rn - using she/they in public but not sold on this set entirely.

HawkeyeNotHawkGuy is my fandom-focussed sideblog to not overwhelm the feed when the brain gremlins take over.

Main rules here are pretty standard:

  • No terf shit allowed, if you’re being transphobic, homophobic, or racist you’re gone
  • No blank blogs
  • No minors
  • Let me know if you want something tagged, I try to keep up with standard tws

Just… don’t be creepy?

Will update as we go/as needed…

Pls do not reblog anything with the old disability pride flag, it does cause seizure and migraines, please use the new one which was created by the same person with the feedbacks of many other disabled people.

This is the safe one:

a “Straight Diagonal” version of the Disability   Pride Flag: A charcoal grey flag with a diagonal band from  the top left   to bottom right corner, made up of five parallel stripes in  red, gold,  pale grey, blue, and green Description ends.ALT

Dont use the zigzag one, your making disabled space inaccessible for a part of the community.

patch notes 1.0.1: visual contrast no longer causes strobe effect when scrolling. Zigzag design was difficult to visually process and anxiety inducing, and was removed. Colors have been lightened and desaturated. For the safety of all users, please make sure you are up to date.

I will never forget when I made a post about problems with antisemitism and islamophobia in the lgbt+ community and some jackass just commented the names of a few shitty people who are muslim or jewish to try to "prove" to me that they're justified in hating us for our respective religions. can't say I remember all the people they listed, but I know they mentioned ben shapiro. oh, and the fucking taliban

now i can't believe I have to say this, and it might come as a shock to antisemites, but the existence of ben shapiro doesn't mean jewish people are evil or inherently homophobic, and he certainly doesn't speak for all jewish people

likewise, and I can't believe I have to say this either, the taliban doesn't speak for all muslims, and their homophobic stance isn't representative of every muslim person

can you imagine if I started saying all atheists are violent because the unabomber was an atheist? do you understand how ridiculous that is?

but if you genuinely believe that a marginalized group can be represented by the worst members of said group, I really don't know what to tell you. except that you are fanning the flames of religious discrimination, and your idealogy gets us killed.

anyway, antisemites and islamophobes are not welcome here

jewish and muslim solidarity forever!

Communist scum like this harasses Ukrainian refugees and thinks it's okay because "uwu they all nazis and too white"

politicsofcanada

you're an idiot if you think I support the russian invasion of ukraine, and/or if you think russia has a communist government

also, you seem to have assigned an opinion to me that I do not actually hold, that is entirely unrelated to this post

I didn't mention ukraine in this post, because it's not about that. I also didn't mention any of the things that you seem to have decided that I believe, based on a perception of me that apparently comes from nowhere

what I do find interesting is that you chose this particular post to make shit up on. are you uncomfortable with discussing antisemitism and islamophobia? or is this a reading comprehension issue? or both?

If you get called "Communist scum" nowadays, you must be doing something right...

Wilbur Turner has witnessed his fair share of hate since he came out as a queer man 27 years ago in Alberta.

He’s seen it from pockets of the Christian right and from the then-Progressive Conservative government in his home province when it opposed same-sex marriage in the mid-2000s.

In the years since, documented attacks against the LGBTQ community have ebbed and flowed and moved from mostly behind closed doors to public spaces like schools and libraries.

Turner, the founder of LGBTQ rights group Advocacy Canada, said recent events in Canada have been largely influenced by what’s been happening south of the border.

“It is pretty well organized. There’s quite a number of different groups that have popped up across Canada that are fuelling this,” he said from his home in Kelowna, B.C. [...]
